Omega-3 · EPA + DHA

The marine fats your membranes are built from — dosed like the lab value it moves.

In Maya's Formula Nº 001: 1,200 mg · with dinner — for a 4.1% omega-3 index and climbing triglycerides.
Three things to remember — that's all
1
Dosed to your triglycerides.

Real amounts that move the number — not the sprinkle most labels carry.

2
Take it with dinner.

Your fattiest meal is when it absorbs best. That's it.

3
Fish can replace it.

Two fish dinners a week can hold your level all by themselves — sardines are the exit plan.

“Across the independent work, marine omega-3 reliably lowers triglycerides at real doses. The famous cardiovascular-events trial was paid for by the company selling the pill — so we weight it lightly, and lean on the independent data, which points the same direction, more modestly.”

What it istap to read

EPA and DHA are structural fats: cell membranes, especially heart, brain, and retina, are literally built from them. Bodies convert almost none from plant omega-3 (ALA), so blood levels track what you eat — and most American panels come back low.

They're also the raw material for resolvins — the molecules that end inflammation on schedule rather than letting it smolder.

The research — and who paid for it2 studies + 1 against
Strong — for triglycerides and omega-3 status
Omega-3 fatty acids for hypertriglyceridemia: AHA science advisory — 20–30% reduction at 2–4 g/daySkulas-Ray et al., Circulation, 2019 · doi.org/10.1161/CIR.0000000000000709Professional-society review (American Heart Association) — no seller money.
REDUCE-IT: purified EPA cut cardiovascular events 25% in statin-treated adults with high triglyceridesBhatt et al., New England Journal of Medicine, 2019 · doi.org/10.1056/NEJMoa1812792Funded by the seller (Amarin, maker of the prescription EPA) — flagged, and never load-bearing on its own.
Read against us STRENGTH: a different omega-3 formulation (carboxylic-acid EPA+DHA) showed no cardiovascular benefit in a similar trial. Nicholls et al., JAMA, 2020 · industry-funded, and a null result — sellers don't buy those · doi.org/10.1001/jama.2020.22258

Formulation and dose decide outcomes in this literature — which is why the form in your bottle matters as much as the ingredient name.

How we weigh a study: we read it for you — including who paid for it. A study funded by the company selling the result is flagged and never load-bearing on its own. No supplement brand pays Liana — nobody's thumb is on this scale.

How we dose ittap to read
1–2 g EPA+DHA daily

Lower for maintenance; the top of the range when triglycerides or the omega-3 index ask for it.

With your fattiest meal

Absorption of the triglyceride form rises sharply with dietary fat — dinner, for most people.

Count EPA+DHA, not 'fish oil'

A 1,000 mg softgel of cheap oil may carry 300 mg of actives. The label's fine print is the real dose.

Safety — and who should skip ittap to read
  • At 3 g/day and above, talk to your clinician if you're on anticoagulants — omega-3s mildly extend bleeding time.
  • Fish-allergic? Algae-derived EPA/DHA exists; the formula swaps it in.
  • Burps and fishy aftertaste are a freshness problem, not a fish problem — oxidized oil is the thing to avoid (see the bottle below).
When it leaves your formulathe goal is zero
The goal is zero

Two fish dinners a week can hold an omega-3 index at target all by themselves. When a retest shows ≥ 8% — or your kitchen starts carrying the load — the dose steps down. Sardines are the exit strategy.

The bottle we chose
One bottle, not a shelf

Nordic Naturals · Ultimate Omega, 1,280 mg per serving

In an unregulated aisle, the brand is half the decision — so we made it for you.

Triglyceride form

Re-esterified to the natural TG form — meaningfully better absorbed than the cheaper ethyl-ester oils that dominate shelves.

Freshness you can verify

Every batch's certificate of analysis — purity, heavy metals, oxidation values — is published and lookup-able by lot number.

Concentrated, so fewer capsules

1,280 mg EPA+DHA in two small softgels; hitting your dose doesn't take a handful.

Third-party certified

Friend of the Sea sourcing; testing beyond what the unregulated shelf requires.
